dear sir, i manage to configured my linux 6.2 doing file sharing. i can able to view my linux in my workgroup. but once i click on it, it ask for login and password, i tried root, and any of the valid users. it show is not accessible. and the account has no right.....etc.
how do i set the authentication?

Since i haven't tried samba or even tried to configure it, i don't exacly know how to do this. But i do know some places, where you might get information about this.

First two books. I don't know what your distribution is, but if it is RH you might want to look Securing and Optimizing Linux Red Hat Edition (http://www.linuxdoc.org/guides.html#securing_linux). If you aren't using RH or to add some knowledge try out in the same page a book called The Linux Network Administrator's Guide, Second Edition. Both can be downloaded from net.

Then there is two web pages. First is SAMBA web pages (http://www.samba.org) and second a web book Using Samba (http://samba.he.net/using_samba/).
