Linuxbox (http://thelinuxbox.org/Got_font.html)
has a good article on getting and installing 6800+ fonts from one web site. You can buy a cd or download them for free. My font runneth over- :)

This (http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2004-05-07-006-26-OS-HL-SW)
is the JustLinux Home newsitem that pointed the way, the are some good links to other font-related articles, such as using anti-aliasing effectively, making fonts available to all the programs, etc.
Thanks and a tip of the hat to bproffit who keeps us up to date and makes these article available.

It takes a long time, for dsl I tried the script and took an hour to get through the "a"'s. So I stopped, paid the people on the web site $6 and downloaded it in 45 minutes for the fonts, graphics, and web images, available on the site.
