Ok I am finally up to the step where I am gonna go out and build a box, throw it in small room inside some office, hook it up to the hub, assign it a static ip, setup a connection to it and start working.

I will need to make this box both a webserver and a mail server.

I have called a local hosting company and setup a domain name with them being the DNS provider because I heard DNS setup is a nightmare so i had them just forward the name to the IP with my box.

I am not lost when it comes to setting up apache so that part is covered. apache is very simple.

What i do need help with is setting up the mail server.
Which distro shall I use that preferably has easy questions for a junior mail server admin. I heard slackware is forgiving in this arena?

Any help / suggestions is appreciated!

Debian comes with Exim by default, but I prefer Postfix. Apt will set either one up perfectly, provided you can answer a few basic questions.
