rt linux and laptops

I'm wondering if rt linux will run on an inexpensive (read cheap and old) laptop. The Dell Inspirons are going for around $200 on e-bay. I'm pretty sure I can get an older version of Redhat on the machine, but will running the rt modules give me problems? Are there any notebooks in this price-range better suited to this application?
