copying from bash or zsh

Why cant I copy from bash or zsh from XFce? But if I use gnome-terminal it works fine?

If you highlight it and then click the third mouse button (scroll wheel or both at the same time, depending on your mouse) where you want to paste it should work. I've noticed the same thing in different wm's. I think the clipboard must be manager specific, so gnome apps work fine, but non-gnome apps might not. Not sure about that though.
