Free Linux OS?

Hi,
I just bought a Palm IIIxe, i know that a lot of the handhelds os's come built in but is there a linux replacement to the Palm OS ?

I don't know about a replacement, but the Linux PalmOS Development (http://www.shallowsky.com/linux/palmlinuxdev.html) has a lot of information about developing apps on it....

I don't know about for Palms, but there is alot out there for Pocket PC based PDA. One thing to remember though is that in order to "replace" the OS you have to write directly to the chip and if you make one mistake your PDA will basically be an expensive paper weight
