Anybody know of a way to change colour depth in X without altering the XF86Config file or closing X?

Well, Mandrake is able to do it without leaving X, so there's got to be a way.

I do not believe it is possible to change the color depth without exiting. (At least in XFree 3.x)

Maybe 4.x has that feature...

TaeShadow: What tool is used in Mandrake to do that? Maybe we can figure it out from that.
