Everytime I start WineX (3.3) it fades to a black screen and my monitor shows "No signal" just as if i set up an invalid screen resolution.
This happens even if i start applications that don't need any resolution switching.
Since neither changing to another console using STRG+ALT+F* nor STRG+ALT+BACKSPACE works i can't attach any log or something like that.
The only thing that must have something to do with the reason is that i uninstalled XFree86-Mesa-libGLU to be able to install my ATI fglrx driver without trouble and then reinstalled it.

My distrobution is Fedora Core 1 using the 2.4.26-ll kernel from PlanetCCRMA. My display adapter is an ATI Radeon 9100 with fglrx driver version 3.2.8.

I badly need WineX for games so anyway i need to get it working.

So did WineX work before you uninstalled XFree86-Mesa-libGLU to be able to install my ATI fglrx driver and then reinstalling XFree86-Mesa-libGLU?

Yes, it worked before that.

"Never touch a running system..."

btw: I don't know if i now have the same libGLU version as before but it most likely is up-to-date. But when i reinstalled it there were no (RPM) dependency problems.

Anything in your system logfile in /var/log as to the reason WineX is not working? /var/log/XFree86.0.log ?? Does WineX keep it's own logfile?

Are you running WineX at the commandline? Error messages? You could try piping the output of WineX to a file.

<command> > winex.log

I've never used WineX, so of course do not know how it works or how it's executed.

I already tried to log the output to a logfile but after i got the black screen and restarted the x server the log was empty.

Winex is executed à la:
winex3 application.exe [--options]

i run it from a terminal but i cannot see any error messages.

I tried to install XFree86-Mesa-libGL via apt but it said:
file /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 from install of XFree86-Mesa-libGL-4.3.0-55 conflicts with file from package fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-3.2.8
(fglrx is the ATI-driver)

[EDIT]
After reinstalling winex3 i try to run "hl.exe" (HalfLife) and it shows the following error:
X Error of failed request: GLXBadContext
Major opcode of failed request: 144 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 4 (X_GLXDestroyContext)
Serial number of failed request: 110
Current serial number in output stream: 111
I get the same error when i try to run fgl_glxgears, for example.

Perhaps i should install XFree86-Mesa-libGL using the "--force" option?

[EDIT2]
After trying and trying it works now...the last issued could be solved by simply rebooting the system...insane :)

That's great. So I fixed another problem for a JL member. :p

I was about to suggest you search the JL forums for 'fglrx' as I've seen many threads posted here on ATI/Radeon/fglrx with one or two I believe in the 'How I did it' forum. One of our moderators (bwkaz) has helped to solve many of the Radeon and fglrx issues here. Oh well... as long as you have it working. :)
