Which distros are the most popular and which ones are the easiest to use?

Mandrake 8. Just got it installed. everything worked except getting my network printer setup correct. Even found and installed drivers for onboard sound on this fic-503a mobo. :D

Mandrake is probably the easiest to use, but my favorite is Slackware by far! :)

So maybe not the easiest but it's stable and its package manager kicks butt.

Ok, not the easiest to install and configure, but once you have it up and running, it's the easiest distro to upgrade and keep up to date.

I've heard that Progeny Debian (http://www.progeny.com/prodserv/progenydebian/) is easier to install than pure Debian.

Nothin' beats good ol' debian! Once it's installed, software installs/updates are really easy.

Umm, well never tried Debian. But Mandrake 7.2 and 8.0 are ridiculously easy to update. It's great for Desktop stuff but I wouldn't use it for a server due to it's weak security. I'm a Slackware buff when it comes to servers. By far the most secure and dependable on that front. That's just my opinion but it is completely and absolutely correct :D

If you want to get some work done (windows 2000 pro)

If you want to mess around and play games (Mandrake 8)

...OK, not really a distro per se, but it is the most educational experience I've ever had :)

I've always like slackware but I just ordered a copy of the newest red hat since it looks like they finally got it all together this time. I hope anyways.
