I'd like to use some .hlp files, like mirc.hlp, though by default i can't. Is there a program or something for it, or maybe with wine..

If you have apache (or any web server) running on your machine you can use WinHelpCGI (http://www.herdsoft.com/ti/english/topics/linux/winhelpcgi.html).

If you have a windows partition and have it mounted under Linux, you could try using Wine to run the winhelp.exe program. It might take a bit of fiddling to get it working...

Actually, if you have access to any Windows machine, you could try copying across the winhelp files and run them with Wine - again, it might take a bit of fiddling to find the right files (there are probably a few .dlls etc.) but I reckon you could do it. I wouldn't say that winhelp is the most complicated program in the world...

Sure you can but running apache on your own machine is actually quite an easy thing to do. Most distros set up a basic running server when you install the apache packet.
