When I D/L files with BitTorrent (big ones) the connection always freeze. Suddenly my whole LAN is disconnected. It seems like BT lock up or crashes either the router or the cable modem ...
Have you guys experienced the same thing when you D/L by BT???
PS I have changed both my router and my cable modem during the last year but ... seems that the hardware part is'nt to blame!?!

How big is big? Does it always freeze at the same point (filesize)? Enough space available on the download destination partition?

Try limiting your upload rate. --max_upload_rate, I think that is the option. Before I did, even though my DL speed was abysmal, I couldn't surf (6 minutes for a page to load, etc). Any ack packets were swamped with torrent taking 99.999% of upload bandwidth. It may be delaying critical packets on your lan.

thanks for your replies!
the problem is'nt due to size of files or my upload is maximized (it IS like walking thru glue ...)
..the Internet connection suddenly dies. I have read on dslreports.com and there seem to be lots and lots of problems with different router/modems when D/L with bittorrent :(
I'll just have to accept this ('cause I got the latest firmware on both my Motorola Cable Modem SB4200E and Linksys Router BEFSX41)
thanks anyway :)
