When I try and start ob3 from my gdm screen about 80% of the time I get an error that says my session lasted less than 10 seconds and I can check out the error by clicking a check box. Doing so gives me this:

/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: running: sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l :0 chris
localhost being added to access control list

(/usr/bin/openbox:4150): Openbox-WARNING **: A window manager is already running on screen 0

Usually after 4 or 5 tries it goes away.

Which do you want to run on start-up? GDM or OB? What happens when you start OB from the commandline rather than booting into GDM?

I want GDM to start first, I use that to logon to my Ob3 session.

Does your .xsessions-error file look any different?

.xsession-errors

/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: running: sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l :0 chris
localhost being added to access control list

(openbox:28703): Openbox-WARNING **: A window manager is already running on screen 0

Shortened out the useless stuff.

When you have to post "logs"...attach them to your reply instead of copying them to the reply window. Try starting OB from the commandline...then see what the log says as compared to the previous.

Well it's fixed, from the link provided I decided to comment out a couple lines of my .xsession. I hope it's correct and so far I've been able to start ob3 w/o an error.

These are the 2 lines I commented out of my .xsession:

# openbox & wmpid=$!
# wait $wmpid
