I'm setting a up fileserver I was wondering what distro to use.
I'm thinking of using debian seams to be stable and you can scale it down alot anyone have any recommendations for another distro?

Since you just need to install a base system and network componnents, I'd go with Slackware or Debian - of the two, I'm a slack man myself...

Specific to what's involved in setting up a file server, I don't know what difference one distro would make over another. I've used SuSE, Redhat, Mandrake, Slack and Deb, and they're all fine...
...Of course, if you're looking to join a club or something, pick Slack or Debian.
