I'm not sure about the browser side of Konqueor, but if it's of any help, these are most (if not all) of the files used by Netscape which retain information you may want to purge:

~/.newsrc-news - history of subscribed-to newsgroups

~/.netscape/cookies - the dreaded cookie file

~/.netscape/history.list - the two components of
~/.netscape/history.dat - Netscape's history

~/.netscape/cache (and subfolders) - Netscape's disk cache

~/.netscape/xover-cache/host-news - more newsgoup cache (hostinfo.dat is the list of all available newsgroups on your ISP's news server. If you delete it, it will remake the next time you hit "subscribe")

Most of these files are self-generating. If you delete them, a virgin copy of them will be made the next time you launch Netscape.

To automate the process, you can write a script which deletes the files you want to purge, and then call that script from your shutdown routine.

Hope this helps-

For konqueror if I remember right an konqueror.rc file that has all your history and saved locations visited with in it. It's not to large but you can just remove them from there. As far as cache I think theres a seperate cache folder you can just remove contents from

This is very important question. so i whent to my .netscape folder, cache, and appears stuff like this 00 01 02 03 1E, all of this are folders is it okey to delete this folders? because this only fills my HD with trash!!!
And what about if i delete history.dat, history.list, cookies? Does the netscape creates them again when i open netscape?
Thanks!!

There is also a file called "index.db", which can be deleted as well.

Maybe I should expand my post and submit it to linuxdoc (http://www.linuxdoc.org) as the "PORN-HIDING HOW-TO".

I use Opera 6.0 TP1(for Lunix) for general web browsing (because Mozilla still sucks, and Konqueror has cruddy cache options), and for pr0n browsing. It has a few nifty features that I like:

1. Can disable *all* popup windows
2. 'Delete private data' option (just like in windows; gets rid of your cache, cookies, and the history list)
3. The cache is extremely customizable (unlike Internet Explorer's and Mozilla's...)
4. It doesn't hog up resources (like Mozilla)

Of course, one might wonder why you may need to erase your tracks in Linux...if you have a decent, randomized password, your parents shouldn't be able to look at your stuff. :p

I always find it best to let the experts on the particular subject do the writing of the how-to's. You'll do a great job David. ;)

If I remember correctly Konqueror keeps it's info in a folder called .Links in the users directory. Just delete it Konqueror will always create a new one next time.

Also under folders contents you might want to delete periodically is 'thumbnails' found in .kde/share/thumbnails of the users directory. Again just delete the contents of the 'thumbnails' folder.

Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to hide the porn from right now.
