Sorry about the off topic header, thanks for the advice on DHCP it determined all the ip and subnet settings needed, but it then asks me for my hostname, the default one is localhost.localdomain but that doesnt seem to work, where can I find out my hostname.

This new one isn't much better, so I manually added (configuring hostname) to help you to hopefully receive a solution.
At the commandline
echo $HOSTNAME
Actually searching the JL forums for 'change hostname' should find you lots of previous threads on the same question.
