The first time I load KDE everything looks great. However, after starting it for the second time it set my default fonts to be this horrid unreadable cursive font. I changed it in the control center but it still shows up in most KDE applications including the status textbox in Kpackage (meaning I cant see what files it would be looking for).

I have tried three versions of KDE and had the exact same problem...

ANY suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

One more thing is that the menu's in non-kde applications (mozilla, gaim, etc) are HUGE (font size).

Hello there:

The following answer is based upon my presumption that the fonts in your 'root' account are fine. Have you tried logging in to different accounts to be certain that the fonts are messed up in general; or just your personal account?

No doubt this is NOT the most nearly correct answer, but in the past, when I've had the same problem, I created a new user account. I migrated most of my preferences over to the new account; the fonts in the new account were fine. Something is mis-configured in your personal account's font settings. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you what file(s) need to be repaired. If someone else reads my response and does know the correct files to edit, I'm sure he or she will let you know. In the meantime, my answer has proven to work for me.. ..LOL . .as caveman'ish' as it sounds.

I seriously doubt that it has anything to do with your XF86config-4 file; this sounds more like a user account font "boo boo". In KDE, I'm pretty sure it's a hidden file by the name of "./kderc" on the root of your home directory.

It does it in ANY account but not the first time you go into KDE with it and making a new account every day isnt really practical.
