java help

I'm having trouble installing java for MOZILLA i have twice downloaded it from the link given by the browser itself (http://home.netscape.com/plugins/jvm.html)and after letting it download after it's completed i get the message Java 2 Plug-in for Linux: Download was unsuccessful.Could somebody please help me as i really like MOZILLA but the constant message saying java not installed is driving me mad.P.S i'am a bit of a newbie.

sorry to say this but a lot of ppl are having this prob. And i havent found a fix. Plz post if you have one. I havent been able to get any plug-ins to work.

I'am using mandrake 8.0 as well.If i do find a way i well post back.
