What booting up, do you go to a GUI login or text login? If text, put

gnome-session

in the .xinitrc file in your home directory (create it if it doesn't exist). If GUI, well in debian you would do the same thing but in .xsession so it may be the same for other distros, not sure...

you can also use the desktop switching tool in gnome :)

Try to just "Log Out" instead of "Shutdown" (Sorry, I'm not sure where to get there in "Enlightment".) When you log back in you will be able to select whichever you want. There should also be a box to select whether you are to be automatically logged in or brought to this point to login and select your GUI.

Hope this helps,
