linux dual boot with WCE on my jornada 540?

would it be possible to set some version of the pda linux' into a cf cart that i could boot from my pda without perminant distruction untill im sure it works fine?

Sorry as I have no idea since I do not own a PDA. Would like to get the Sharp Zaurus 5600 (or later model), but they are not available in Canada.

Have you tried G4L? Search results for 'install cf card' (http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=install+cf+card&btnG=Google+Search). Some of those results look as though they may be what you are looking for.

I've done plenty of research on that subject myself because I used to have one of those ;) and from what I've found the only way to get linux on there is to let it take over the entire os. The only way to do that is to rewrite the chip and if you make a mistake you can kiss your pda goodbye. There are some sites out there that are dedicated to it, but most of them deal with the Ipaq handhelds. They may have some more info for you though
