I did a search and could not find anything on this, not sure if I used the right keywords. I would like to know how to make a script chkconfig compatible. If there is a tutorial on this somewhere and somebody could point me to it, that would be great.

Make sure you read the bottom of the message. Looks like it's a single-line comment in the script itself.
