This is probly no BIG deal for you hard core Linux guys, but for me a fairly new Linux convert (still dual boot with XP though) it is a HUMUNGUS deal!
Worked automaticaly in Mandrake 9 and Fedora
Core 1, but in Knoppix 3.3 (hard drive install) it just would not work...
In the "Section Monitor" that was generated by Knoppix 3.3 there was a lot of "stuff" (I am very technical)
After checking out some config files on Google I altered mine to very basic
"Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
HorizSync 30-62
VertRefresh 55-75
I made sure the "Screen Section" was compatible with it and I also added "1024x768" in the mode section and not I have 1024x768 800x600 640x480
Mind you this took days (or was it weeks) to get working I trolled google and some newsgroups...
Then thing that really made it was possible though was the fact that I took the time to be able to edit file from the command line (or should I say the SHELL!), if I have one piece of advice for "Newbies" is learn the shell because when I first started with Linux I had quite a few reinstalls because I changed things I shouldn't !
Anyway thaks for reading...
