kernel 2.5 support files > 2.1 gig?

does kernel 2.5 support files > 2.1 gig? if it's just a specification somewhere, where is it so that i can change it?

Atleast 2.4 tree supports >2.1Gb, so reasoning tells, that 2.5 tree supports as well.
