Hello Everyone,

I have an install of RH9 that has Wine running IE6. At work I have to hit an intranet site that uses windows authentication.
When I use Firefox and hit the site it properly asks me to authenticate and lets me thru, but a good bit of the site doesnt work.
When I try using IE6 on wine I never get prompted to authenticate, I simply get a page telling me that the page is unavailable.
I have changed my security setting for intranets to 'Prompt for user name and password' but it doesn't seem to matter. I have also checked 'Enable Integrated Windows Authentication (requires restart)'.
I also am having trouble hitting www.google.com, I get a blank page that says 'Done' in the lower left corner.

Thanks,
Frank

Oh, also, IE6 doesn't seem to know what Zone I am in (ie. Internet, Local Intranet, etc.).

I've never used Wine let alone Wine and IE6.

Have you first searched around http://www.winehq.org/ to see if they have anything on configuring the IE6 authentication with Wine?

Any Wine/IE6 users here that know the solution?

It's probably due to how IE uses authentifiaction. Unlike other browsers, IE will grab the system logon and use it to pass through with local network authentifiaction.

This can be turned off in IE through the Advanced tab in the Internet Options. Under Security uncheck "Enable Profile Assistant" and then it should prompt you for a logon.

...I sometimes hate myself for knowing this stuff... :)

No clue. I've IE6 setup with Wine but that's just to check rendering of webpages I design.

I'd check the forum at http://www.frankscorner.org/ if you need further assistance.
