Has anybody heard/tried this new linux distro?

Sorcerer GNU Linux (http://sorcerer.wox.org/)

It seems to have some neat features and is similar to Gentoo & LFS in some ways.

"Would you like a Linux distribution which is 100% optimised for your hardware? Would you like one which includes the very latest software packages as they are released by their respective maintainers? How would you feel if we told you about a Linux distribution where the entire download-compile-install process of any software (including the Linux Kernel, glibc, GCC, KDE) is done by one simple command? Intrigued? Then read on. Welcome to the magic world of Sorcerer GNU Linux!"

Here's the complete review (http://www.distrowatch.com/review-sorcerer.php) written by DistroWatch.com.

The pentagram is a symbol of Satan, the evil ruler of Hell. Why the hell did they use such a thing on this Distro?

On the other hand, it says that it uses an installation method where the sources are directly compiled and installed automagically. Amazing.

It looks pretty damn cool... but...

I am not so sure I would trust such a new distro. I like to stick with tried and trusted distros ie debian, slack.

There is no real documentation for SGL but after a few aborted instalations and plenty of time for compilation I've got it running. The thing about this distro I like best is it's package management. After getting the base system up and recompiled, I did a "cast kde" and it installed everything needed to run kde, including X. This thing ROCKS!

The pentagram ties in with the witchcraft theme they seem to use in their package management system. Sounds like a very interesting distribution. The package management sounds alot like the BSD ports system. If I wasn't so happy with my current install of FreeBSD I'd give it a try.
Maybe I'll kill the XP Pro install on my desktop box and try it there ...

Actually the upside down pentagram is a symbol of Satan. The right-side up pentagram is used in Wicca if I remember correctly, which has nothing to do with Satanism.

That's right. If I am not mistaken the pentagram pops up in a few other non-satanic areas. Much like the swastika. It isn't evil until you give it that quarter turn. Swastika's can be found in many cultures around the world. FYI

As far as history can tell us, the Pentagram has been used by many cultures and religions, since well before the time of Jesus, and was for the most part associated with good and positive things. (it was even a part of early Christian symbology, along with the cross).
Its postitioning/orientation did mean different things in different contexts, but it had no "Satanic" connotations (Hint: many ancient religions were pan-theistic, and for the most part didn't even have a central "Satan" figure; that's a Chritstian construct).

It seems as though you can pretty much thank the all-holy Inquisition ("no one expects...") for putting and end to that. Things which had been for ages associated with good suddenly became symbols of evil; the tools of pagans and heretics. Something as simple as an Oak or Holly branch, a certain pattern of stones, or something as mathematically interesting as the Pentagram.

So, apart from all the pentagram talk, has anyone beside WHizzard tested this distro out? :D
