Hi:
I'm using Slackware 9.1, and I've recently upgraded my Dropline Gnome 2.4 to the brand-new-spatial-flamboyant_GTK_addict Gnome 2.6. It works great, but the fact that the soundcard doesn't work is quite annoying. It did before I upgraded and, what is more, I think all the soundcard related modules are now working too (there's a bunch of them, but I'm pretty sure none is missing).
I've tried playing a song with mpg123 from the console, but it won't sound anyway. I don't know if the Gnome instalation may have modified something in the modules config, but it would be quite odd.

Has anything similar happened to any of you?

I have a Pent. Celeron laptop. Motherboard manufacturer is Sis, and the sndcard is Sis 7012 (the "drivers" are installed).

Thanks for your help

Ok the modules are loaded. Well then its either permissions or your sounds has been muted.

I'll go with muted as sound has worked before.

It's unlikely that upgrading your wm changed permissions.

By installed, do you mean the required modules are loaded?

lsmod (to check)
