Hey guys im usuing Mandrake 8 on a Radeon 64mb VIVO graphics card. I think i might be having OpenGL problems or my 3D card isnt working at all. The OpenGL screensavers in KDE also dont work. This is kinda gettin on my nerves. When i had Redhat 7.1 on my comp the screensavers worked fine and i had no probs with thoughs but i really didnt try any games. Here is what i get when i run Quake III Arena and Tux Racer.

This is what happens when i load Quake III Arena

Oh quake 3 is the Windows CD not the Linux so its not the Loki install. Its the install where i got a patch off the internet for the Windows CD to work on Linux so this could be 1 of my probs but i dunno.

basicly, the radeon is pretty hard to set up for openGL...I haven't got it working right yet. Let me know what you come up with.

mandrake often puts mesa gl on the system, which I find to be kinda crappy. your best bet is to check out the ati site and see if they have their own drivers for gl (like nvidia has for linux) and go with those.

Do you think me going to back to redhat would be much better.

Check on your Drake CDs and see if they have OpenGL drivers. Red Hat and Drake are basically the same thing, so if it works in RH you can get it working in Drake...hell if it works in linux you can get it working. Maybe search the hardware forum and software forum and this one for OpenGL and your video card to see if this has been solved.

You also might want to make sure that you have the latest Xserver for your particular card.
