Hi
I am running RH8 on an IBM ThinkPad 600E (333 MHz, 192 MB RAM). I have an SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCMCIA(SMC8041TX V.2) that I want to use as an ethernet card because this thing is so old that it doesn't have built in ethernet. I am willing to reinstall or upgrade Red Hat.

Thanks

I forgot to add that I have a 3COM Megahertz 10 Mbps LAN card as well that would work. I tried what is on SMC's website, to no avail, so I am still looking for a solution

What exactly did you try? Error messages?

Ensure you have PnP OS disabled in the system bios if it has that option.

Do you happen to know what modules/drivers the SMC and 3Com use?

Some useful commands for troubleshooing.

lsmod (list loaded modules)

ifconfig (list/configure a ethernet card)

lspci (list pci devices)

Also please have a look/search through the Hardware and Networking forum for similiar topics as you will find loads and loads of previous threads to help with troubleshooting tips etc.
