Does linux support USB CD Writers? How would I go about configuring one?
ldp doesnt seem to think so, though the document appeared to a bit outdated [from 2000] and things have come a long way since.

i did use one a while back.
i had to use
append "/dev/usb=ide-scsi"
or somthin like that.
just had to enable scsi emu some how but that was pre 2.6 so
i dont know if you'd have to now.
any one else know? im also interested in buying a new one

Since my distro (SuSE 9.0) already has scsi emulation enabled in the stock kernel and uses hotplugging, I only had to plug in my USB DVD/CD writer and the required usb-storage module was automatically loaded. The writer was then available in K3b?
Check to see what modules are loaded with 'lsmod'.
