I have been trying for a dual boot, but windows has been "complaining" so I decided to get a physical HD switcher.

I have decided that the Romtec Trios 2 is the best option. However, they have to trios 2's, one plus, and one normal. The plus one is guarenteed to work with all PC's. The normal, up to a Pentium 3 or equivelent.

I have a Gateway with a AMD anthelon 1.1gigaherts processor. It has a 80gig HD used for Winblows, and a 20gig for linux. When I get the trios, I will add a 5gig HD for small distros.

The reason I ask is I can find a normal on ebay, but I cant find a plus. If the standard trios 2 would work, please tell me.

Here is the manufacturers website. (http://www.romtecusa.com/)

The reason I am posting this on a linux forum, is it is the only computer forum I visit.

Thanks!

I've never heard of the Romtec Trios nor have I seem anything posted here at JL on Romtec's.

Why is Windows complaining? Most of here successfully dual/multi boot Windows and Linux on the same HD.

Windows keeps the bootloader from wirking.

Grub just says GRUB,. and locks up.
Lilo says L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 And so on.

I tried installing SuSe 9.0, and MANDRAKE 9.0, bolth cannot install a bootloader.:(

I'm using the Trios with with my "home built" computer-no problems. Mine is the older model that installs into a drive bay from the front of the computer. I think the newer model installs in a expansion slot(PCI). The only problem I had is the switch is fairly big and takes up a lot of room inside your computer. As long as you follow the direction, you should have zero problems. It's very convenient to have a switch between harddrives. You can never screw up your windows installation.

Both are most likely fixable. Have a look through these JL forum search results for 'grub prompt' (http://justlinux.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=923855&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending) as we've had a few very recent threads on this problem.

Are you installing the Linux bootloader in the mbr of the primary drive (hda) or the /boot or root partition?
