I have read here many references to ISO's I understand that they basically are install images. In most post's the mention of burning cd's seems the way that all do ISO's. I unfortunately do not have the luxury of owning a CD burner. If I would like to grab drake 8.0 or the next version of RH can I put the ISO's on my harddrive and do the install from there?

Thanks you are so helpful.

ISO is a CD Image.
There is a program for windows that will open ISOs and allow you to extract stuff, looks like it's WinImage (http://www.winimage.com).

winimage will work but i prefer "isobuster". it's smaller and free. http://www.ping.be/vcd/start2.htm

Yep, you can do an install from the iso. You can check out the instructions here (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/faq/faqw.py?req=show&file=faq06.011.htp)

It's kinda tricky if you are new to linux. So if you don't understand the instructions, IMHO, do what pakrat and ddep says... unless you don't have the disk space.

Hope this helps :)

ISObuster is great. I use it more than WI.
