I'm using a GF2 MX and Mandrake 8.1...

When I first installed MDK8.1 it uses whatever driver it ships with, and you can only select 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (as well as a few other options I didn't care about), so I chose 1280x1024... later on I installed the lastest (2313/2314) drivers from nVidia and I chose to use a 1280x960 resolution. However, when I booted into X, the screen has to scroll to show it all. Kinda annoying. How do you disable screen-scrolling in X 4.x.x ?

check your XF86Config-4 file. Does it have something like

Option "VirtualScreen" "yes"

somewhere (I don't know the exact sequence, but check for something to do with virtual screens and set that option to no). Or check the xfree86 website to see what option you need to add if you don't have such a thing in XF86Config-4.
