I just downloaded Slackware 8.0 and Debian distros and tried to install them both booting the installation from the cd.
For Slackware, the keyboard responds at the first prompt where you are asked to choose you kernel to boot the installation.
I tried a couple, including bare.i, but then when it asks to choose a keyboard layout possibly different then the US one, my keyboard doesn't respond anymore and I'm stuck,
I had similar problem installing Debian.
My keyboard is PS/2 and my mouse USB.
Anybody knows what's happening?
Thanks in advance

Under windows , it says I have a "Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard".
(it is a very generic keyboard)
I tried booting from floppies to install Slackware (bare.i then color.gz), but I had the same problem.
Thanks in advance for any help
I believe the problem with the Debian is the USB mouse. Debian potato does have problem in the usb area. Try Woody or Libranet and I think you mouse will be reckconized.

The USB mouse should not be causing the problem he's having.

I tried a different ps/2 keyboard model, but end up with the same problem...

I have tried what TC suggested (if all else fails) by plugging a crappy ps2 mouse and removing my usb mouse and my keyboard suddenly started responding...
Oh well... Thanks TC
