I am having all sorts of problems trying to log in when i browse the LNO, I forgot to logout when i left, and now when i bring the board up, it says i'm logged in, but when i go to reply to a question it says i'm not logged in.
So ive tried logging out and then logging back in, but that doesn't work, I tried logging in when it asked me to , that didn't work, I deleted the cache files and that didn't work, even reinstalled the flamming browser, no joy.
Anyone help me out here, i am back to posting from Windows,(it's just in linux).
Cheers

Try flushing/deleting all the files in your cache/history folder. I had similar probs with links (text-based browser) until I flushed its cache.
LiNuts,
I had the exact same problem last month, on both my Mac (running Mac OS 8.6), and my Linux PC. I did everything you've done as far as troubleshooting (and more), but the problem still existed. Here's what was going on:
1) On the Mac, I had installed ad/cookie blocking software.
2) On the Linux box, I had had set my Netscape Cookies preference to "disable cookies".
Hmm- I think we see the pattern here, no? On the Linux box, I set Netscape's Cookie preference to "accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server". In the Mac's blocking software, I added a rule/exception for www.linuxnewbie.org (http://www.linuxnewbie.org) which disabled cookie-blocking for the site.
All was good after I made those changes :)
Hope this helps,
Dave

Well i think i found the problem, I'm using junkbuster and squid, i have stopped both from running, now i can log in.
This problem has only arisen since the board was upgraded,
I suppose i'll have to put up with the ads so i can use the board.
