Boot order set to CDROM first?

If that's not the problem, could you elaborate a little.

Yes i have tried that one, before but this machine is from 96, and the some bios by that time does not suport that.
Itīs werry strange, i hanve tried to install a Win 98 just to see if it works, but it cant find the setup files, of cours that is becuse t cant read from the cd rom, so what i did were to install a dos 6.22 copy and then add the drivers for the rom (BTC BDE 8X).
The it cant find the divce sill, even after I added the driver.
I have tried with, RH 6.2, Mandrake 7.0.
Cant find the divice.
It worked propperly before i run the Format /s c:.
So its not a hardwear problem.
If any one have a idea pls let me know.

Not sure if I understand what you are saying.

If you setup a dos bootdisk with the proper realmode device driver for your CD and use the MS CD Extentions (MSCDEX.EXE), then your drive should work. Are you getting any error messages when the CD driver is loading when you are booting dos? If so, then check the syntax of the commands in autoexec.bat and config.sys.

well my cd-rom was busted and doing the same thing. Got one you could swap? Try that.

You can try to boot from a disk that relays to the CDROM to begin install ... I think you find the stuff (an image) you need to build this disk in a /disk directory on the CD ... You'll need a dos prompt to do this ... That's the way I did for my old BIOS too.
