USB Daemon hangs in 'drake 8.1

p3 450, 96 mg ram, drake 8.1 d-load edition.

Whenever I halt my pc, she hangs at the USB daemon. Run level 3, run level 5, halt as root, halt as user, doesn't make a difference..
The only device plugged into it is my HP deskjet 882c, nothing else. Print daemon dies just fine. Thanks, in advance....

What happens if the printer is not connected?

I have about 6 USB devices, three of which work in 8.1 (keyboard, mouse daisy-chained from keyboard, and a laser printer via a USB-to-parallel converter from an external hub). I just haven't played with 8.1 enough test my MP3 player, digital camera, nor scanner.
