i decided to install red hat 7.1 as a workstation into text mode, but every time i tyr to start X i get this error. can somebody help?

execve failed for /etc/x11/x (errno2)
giving up.
Xint: no such file or directory (errno2):unable to connect to x server
Xint: No such process (errno3): server error

Hmm, I ran into that too. I could only start X when logged into root.

File permission problem perhaps?

If you change an ID variable in /etc/inittab,(I think that's what it was called) you can have it autolaunch X (I belive it was ID=5)

Hope this helps. Unfortunately, I'm just getting into this stuff too but discovery is half the fun. ;-)
