Codefolding?

I noticed that the editor Kate can handle codefolding, but how do I get this feature to work. The feature is disabled in the menus. When does this become available?

I discovered that when editing a .cpp file from the KDE source code, the code-folding turns on. Does anyone know how to get this to work when editing other files or is this feature specific to a certain type of syntax?

its always available for me in php files but thats all i use it for and have never seen it turn off. what version of kate you using?
