hi.. i reinstall red hat 9 and download all resource from gnome and kde
the kde3.2.1 has about 298mb and gnome has about 89mb.
i checked garnome and konstruct are the easiest tool to build desktop system.
In both of programs, i changed their configuration in
GARCHIVERDIR = /mypersonal/directory/where/store/kdeAndgnome/source
then i try all method and do make install in most directory, but they are not working. anyone know why and teach me how to fix it?:( :( :( :(

Have you looked on the sites where you downloaded the programs to see if its a bug or if you need to pass more arguments to get it to look for your source? Do you get any kind of error message?
I've never used either so I can be more helpful sorry :)

Actually with Konstruct you should have let it do the downloading as it places the sources in its own working directory.....check documentation or the readme that came with Konstruct and m/b you can just simply move your packages where Konstruct can find them. I have not used Konstruct or Garnome and just compile from source and install them in the order I have listed below. (for KDE)
I can help you this much........
This is the minimum list you'll need to download so most of your dependencies will be resolved.
*arts, *kdeaddons, *kdeaccessability, *kdeadmin, *kdeartwork, *kdedevelop, *kdegraphics, *kdemultimedia, *kdenetwork, *koffice, *kdepim, *kdesdk, *kdetoys, *kdeutils, *quanta and *qt
This is the list you absolutly need to download and install first preferably in the order listed.
*qt, *arts, *kdelibs and *kdebase
The additional modules at the very top can be installed in any order, but the kdeaddons pkg must be installed last.

JohnT, you have a good idea. hehehe =D
hm... yea. i downloaded all the sources for sure.
you said that you just compile from source and install them.
i did that before, but 1 week ago, i have problem to link glib-2.2.3 to pkgconfig or add path to PKG_CONFIG_PATH which don;t work at all. and i messy up my computer and my GUI was dead. then i reinstall red hat linux9.0...
well... this time i will try to use vmware to test the installation. (becoming smarter, hehehhe :"D )
i will try your idea later. thank your reply..

Make sure you have the latest version of pkgconfig before you start.
