Well, first the problem was with scsi's, and now it's with partitioning.
Ok, I have my 'hde' partition (25gig FAT). Thats my only partition, which is the problem. Because when I hit done, it says that I need a swap partition. "Of course I do, but how do I get that?" I asked. Well, I looked around for a few minutes and found this little image demo that shows how (by clicking on the resize and entering a number) . So I tried that but, alas, when I enter a number and click OK it just says 'Minimum filesystem size is 50106959 [or some number close to that]' and then it shows a perl script in like the resize-fat directory... um... that kinda explains it, it won't lemme get a new partition for the swap so I can't get past this step...
I'm probably missing something really simple here, aren't I?
Well anyway thanks for -any- help,

try making a /boot first (teh boot partition needs to be first and only needs to be a few meg, 16m is what I used. (if you create your root first, you will not be able to use your whole drive, the boot partition needs to be the first partition, and it can only be so large.) then create your swap partition. then your /root. Unless of course you are doing a dual boot machine ... at that point you are out of my league, I have only messed with straight linux machines

Did you leave enough space to create a swap partition? Usually only 128MB is required depending on the amount of memory you have.

Any 'expert mode' install should give you the abiliity to partition your drive prior to installation.

Here is a NHF on Swap Partitions that may help http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/filesys/swap.html

Also the '/boot' partition is not necessary unless you have a older version of lilo which does not support booting past the 1024 cylinder (approx 8GB) limit.

Depending on the setup, usually only the '/' and swap partition are required. That's what I use. I boot Win98, ME, W2K and 2 Linux distro and all are with the first 8GB of my drive.

Post how you would like your HD setup and perhaps we can give you some advise. Dual, Triple Boot etc. Partition sizes...
