G/day All
Anyone help with "sndconfig" i have
/lib/modules/2.2.17-21mdk/alsa/snd-card-cm8330.0 (which is my sound card chip)
and when i open - sndconfig "cm8330" is highlited in the list but there must be something wrong with the selected IRQ's etc
because no sound on the tests
Do i have to compile sound module ?

try lsmod to see if there is already a sound module. Or you could try to manually set the irq in the bios, or you might move the card to a different slot????

You should not have to set any IRQ's, Drake usually picks up that sound card, you can try this.
Enter a terminal do su <password> and type telinit 3 <enter>
then type sndconfig, This will detect your sound card, and play a sound of Linus saying his name, if you hear it , your card is configured,
Cheers

cmi8330 is a chipset that appears on a couple different cards. try setting it up as a generic soundblaster or sb16. I got mine working but it was a real pain, and I'm not sure if I could duplicate the process.
