I'm thinking I don't have my kernel .config file "optimized" for my new motherboard. I fried my old CPU and bought a new ASUS A7N8X (standard one, not deluxe) and CPU. I knew my old motherboard like the back of my hand and had a good kernel config for 2.6.x. But with this one I've reinstalled Slackware and when I went in to do my config file I enabled everything I thought should be enabled but I'm getting a pretty crappy running system. My mouse when I am moving around will "stick" for like a second or so just during normal operation, ie. not doing anything major that should bog down the system. Also, I started up the little gnome task bar system monitor and everything I open or do on the system causes my CPU to max out. Typing at the command prompt sometimes is fine, but sometimes the letters don't show up for a few seconds. I've seen a few people who have this motherboard on here and would appreciate if they could post their .config file so I can see if I'm not compiling in some odd feature that would help. Note: the standard bare.i stock kernel that comes with slack works fine, this is why I suspect my .config file for the new kernel (2.6.4). Thanks.

I have an ASUS A7V8X, which is very similar to the N8X, excepti it has the nForce chip in it, I think.

Well, I've compiled the 2.6.3 kernel and have it HIGHLY customized for my system, i.e. Athlon processor, Soundblaster card, Broadcom NIC, etc. I also have some of the nForce stuff selected in case I ever do move up to that board.

Anyway, here is my config file. Hope it helps.

Thank you very much. And I see by your logo you are a Slacker as well, very cool.

No problem. Yeah, been using Slackware for about 6 months now and almost exclusivly the past couple months.

I use swaret to keep everything all up to date and I'm using Dropline GNOME for my desktop.
