Now that I have Linux installed on one hard drive and WinMe on another. Can I put both drives in the same computer with the ability to boot to either? Linux is installed as hda. And yes I am very new.

I would recommend puting Winbloze as MASTER (/dev/hda) because I think that's what WinME likes. And Linux as something else (SLAVE; /dev/hdb perhaps?). What I do and am very happy doing is put LILO on a floppy and boot that. It's also FAST: LILO is small, it takes 1 second! If I boot with the floppy IN; LILO boots and asks me what I wish to boot. NO FLOPPY? Then WinME goes into action 'cuz that's what your BIOS prolly looks for. Yes, you can also put LILO on the MBR in your PRIMARY and bypass booting by floppy, but I see sooo many people with problems...It's up to you. -Mike Swapper 03-02-2001, 04:55 PM It's totally possible! I've just setup W2K and linux in the same machine where Windows is the master and linux is the slave drive. Just make sure your bios can see both drives. Did you make a boot disk when you installed linux? This can come in handy if you have problems at first. If you check the NHF (newbie help files) section on this site there are a couple of good articles on how to setup your dual-boot. Good luck! XxMaCaBrExX 03-02-2001, 05:09 PM I usually do it the other way around. I install WinME to one drive while it is setup as master. Then when that's done, I move it to slave and put in the linux drive, install mandrake, and let it find WinME for me. It will set up LILO and everything. HONEST! :D justlinux.com
