anyone know if they exist and where to get them?
sound plays back OK in mplayer, but just a hiss in xine. Xine's win32 codec path points to /usr/lib/win32

If you have an RPM based distro try the following site to get all win32 codecs including Media Player 9.

Daily Xine Builds (http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/)

OK, got it thanks. Slight problem, when I try to install it, it conflicts with win32-codecs-1.4-2plf. If I try to install that, it takes xine-win32-1-0.rc3.2plf with it. Is this last one any harm to lose? Would I be better of just getting a zipped version of the dll, acm, ax files and overwriting the ones in /usr/lib/win32?

I opened the rpm with krusader's built-in archiver and copied the contents to /usr/lib/win32, but the sound still doesn't play in Xine. Odd, no?

Have you first tried the faq's etc. at the main Xine site? They do have something on troubleshooting sound related problems.
