I've got an old PII machine that I've set up as a webserver for testing purposes. It's running Red Hat 8, with whatever version of Apache is standard (I'm not at it now to check ther ver). I had apache working fine last week, but then a couple days ago I ftp'd some changes to a website and tried to connect to check them, and I was not able to get the pages to come up.

I ssh'd into the machine and tried to start the httpd service and it said it failed.

I don't know what would have changed in a few days, and I'm not really sure where to start looking. I'm sure there's probably a log file, but I don't really know where.

Anybody have any ideas? I've even restarted the server and still can't get the service to start. I can post my httpd.conf file if needed, but not until later.

what error do you get when you try to start it?

the logs will/should be somewhere in /var/log

It says "Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName
