I purchased a new monitor and received it yesterday. It is a different make and model of monitor than I originally configured X to run on. Do I need to run the X configurator program again or can I use the settings I currently have? I think I already know the answer to this question...but I wanted to get a few opinions before I do anything.

As far as i know, you can leave your settings as they are when it is a better monitor, compared to the older one.
However, i'm sure you want to exploit the possibilities of the new one so why not configure X again.
Be sure to have the specifications ready when running Xconfigurator or XF86Setup

my thoughts exactly - you got this new monitor, most likely better than the old one, why not use it to the full potential - rerun Xconfigurator or xf86config, which ever you want -
thats what I would do
