Hi,

This is a rather perculiar problem. When I type, i turn caps lock on/off instead of using the shift key to capitalise a word. However, in Linux, it doesnt respond very well.

That is, although the caps LED goes on/off straight away, it is still active, meaning many of my sentences end up looking like

HEllo WORld, THis is a SAmple SEntence.

I have notice this problem from the first linux distro i used, RH5.2, the problem only seems to occur in X, graphical mode is fine. It is still happening in RH8, RH9 and in my current distro, MDK9.2 on every system i have tried

I have tried playing around with the keyboard settings in X but to no avail. Does anybody else notice this problem? Is there a fix/workaround? Its really starting to get annoying now.

Weird. That truly is the first time I've ever heard of something like that.

I'd actually be tempted to try a different keyboard if I was you.

That's what is so weird about it - its not just my machine.

Every system i have tried does it.

Try it now - open up an X console and press Caps, then hit H, then hit caps, then hit H as fast as u can

See how many times you get HH appearing rather than Hh.

As im sure you can imagine, as a reasonably fast typer, this occurs 60% of the time when i am capilalising something.

I hate to break it to you but, I tried it and the switching action occurs as one would expect it to.
In other words, I get 'Hh' for my speedy typing troubles--not a single instance of 'HH'.

::: shrug ::: Typing like that's weird (to me) anyway....I'll stick with using the 'Shift' key.
