Ksmith- Tx 11-03-2001, 03:18 AM have lot of wierd things going on and was thinking of re installing to see if it will straighten out... Dark Ninja 11-03-2001, 05:09 AM Not hard to reinstall it. Getting Mandrake setup to the way you originally had it configured may be more of a pain... Hell, I should know. I've done it four times already today. Dark Ninja Denise 11-03-2001, 08:18 AM It took me 4 installs before it started working properly. Are you using a downloaded version or a store bought? I've found (I know it seems silly) the store bought version worked like a charm. Same thing with red hat and SuSe on my system. bdg1983 11-03-2001, 08:26 AM I can never understand why some need to reinstall a distro more than once. I use Caldera and whenever a new version is released, I download, burn the iso, install on a few pc's both at home and at work and that's it. Install once. I've never had to install the same version a second time on the same pc. I guess that's why so many rant and rave about Mandrake and Redhat being the best to learn with. You get a lot of experience just by all the times you have to reinstall. :D -chaos- 11-03-2001, 02:34 PM Mandrake is easy to reinstall. I installed Mandrake 4 times already, and it still doesnt work right. Im sure there is an easier way to do it, probably in the mandrake install menue, or in DOS or whatever, but I used Partition Magic. In partition magic in windows, just select the Linux partition, right click>format>choose the Linux file system>clikc ok or whatever it asks you. Go to file, and apply settings. It will format the partition right there, it takes me about 5 minutes for a 20 gig partition. Than just reinstall. Any easier ways?? Dark Ninja 11-03-2001, 03:25 PM L0L mdwatts - The only reason I reinstalled Mandrake so many times is the fact that I wanted to test out different configurations of the system to find out what I liked best. Only reason. Nothing else. It worked like a charm every time I installed it. Everyone's still using the wrong distro(s). :D Forget that... I wouldn't have a job or paycheck from LNO if all the Mandrake/Redhat users switched to Caldera. All the posts would read 'When is Caldera releasing their next version'. :) justlinux.com
