Ok, i am running clarkconnect 2.1 home, set up as a file server.
Ok, heres what i would like to be able to do:
I have 3 hard drives installed on the machine, 2 of which are samba shared to my LAN (/home/shared). I would like to be able to set a password, so when you go to network places, and browse to this computer, you have to enter a password to continue (so you cant browse the files without a password).
What would be ideal, is if i could set up 2 different users for this, one user name could just have read and execute access, and another, for full control over the files.
Right now i just have my fstab set up for default permissions - (auto mount, read only access)
But, i am a newbie, so if anyone could give me any info on this, or where to find the info, it would be great.
sorry i posted this in the wrong area before,
I am currently going thru these links,
http://www.samba.org/
http://www.justlinux.com/nhf/Networks/Samba.html
thanks to hayl for them
if anyone has any other info it would be appreciated
Thank you for your time,
