Hi there,

I'm trying to install TurboLinux Server 6.0 Lite on an old DEC PC I've got. The PC dual boots DOS, Win95 and Winnt currently. The PC has DOS installed on an IDE drive (C :), and Win95 & NT installed on FAT16 partitions of a SCSI drive. I have configured free space on the SCSI drive for the Linux partition and a separate swap partition. The install works OK, detecting all devices etc.. I seem to be having a problem though with the boot disk. Basically I'm trying to create a LILO boot on a floppy disk. The install offers me this option, and says it's creating a RAM disk, asks me to put a blank floppy into the drive, which it then seems to write to. The install continues after this and completes successfully, but when I then reboot, the floppy is either ignored (and I get the NT boot menu), or I get the message it is not a valid boot disk.
I got a bit further once by selecting Linear mode before creating the floppy. This time on booting from the floppy I got 'L' to appear on the screen, but no further.

Any ideas on how to progress, as I must have re-installed at least 12 times with no success.

SCSI drive is a 4GB IBM, and I'm using an Adaptec 1542 SCSI adapter.

Regards,

Gary.

Please verify in your bios, thet your machine boots from the floppy first, and HD second - i think your problem is that your bios configured to boot from the HD first, and floppy second... ;-)

Thanks for response.

No, BIOS is definitely set to boot from floppy 1st.
