I have RedHat Linux 9.0 Professional. I love the operating system, but I'm very new to linux. I am still very reliant on the GUI, and that is one of the things I know most about. I like KDE, and would like to use KDM as my login manager. I have installed all packages from the 3 CD's (well, not all the translations, I only know English :) , and I know KDM is on there. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get GDM to stop comming up. (I even removed the folder, and it still came up, just under default options...). I don't know what else to try. If you know what I need to do, create, install, edit, etc. please let me know. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

A quick G4L search for 'change gdm to kdm' found quite a few suggestions.
For SuSE.
As root: edit /etc/rc.config, back it up first, and change
DISPLAYMANAGER to kdm, then run SuSEconfig.
In yast: System Administration->Change Configuration File, F4 to
search for DISPLAYMANGER, then change it to kdm.
reboot.
For Redhat.
Ok i found out how to move from GDM to KDM in redhat 9. You have to edit /etc/sysconfig/desktop file and put these two lines:
DESKTOP="KDE"
preferred="kdm"

Thank you for your reply!
After much... ah... experementation I managed to figure out what to do (before your reply), but the file was a real mess when I was done! (Luckily I had a back up!) I was relieved to get your response, so that next time I know what to do to change to KDM without creating such a mess. You've made things much easier- thanks again!
Oh, and thanks for the search suggestion, I tried a search unsuccessfully before posting, but I guess I didn't use the right key words...
